Sunday at the end of the afternoon, at the foot of the podium of the 46e Chamrousse hill climb, we talked less about the results of the 11e round of the French championship than the crash of Damien Chamberod, which had caused a two-hour interruption of the event and prompted race management to cancel the third climb on the program. An accident which is not the first of the season, alas, and which inevitably causes conversation in the microcosm.

According to an observer from the French mountain championship (CFM), the Noyarey pilot’s accident is the ninth in eleven rounds in 2022; and all of them were turbocharged cars, those of the drivers fighting at the top of the championship (CFM). The Fabien Bourgeon, Maxime Cotleur, Anthony Le Beller, Cyrille Frantz and, already, Damien Chamberod (May 22 at La Pommeraye) experienced behind the scenes… and great scares with their racing car.
