The ranking of the magazine L’Etudiant ranks for the seventh time Toulouse “best student city in France”. Attractiveness, student life, rate of passage in license 2, the students praise “the good humor of the southerners”.
It is a new plebiscite. The specialized magazine L’Etudiant has published its latest ranking of the best student cities in France where Toulouse, for the seventh time since the creation of this (necessarily subjective) ranking in 2013, ranks in pole position with a final score of 120/151 .
“With more than 120,000 students at the start of the school year, Toulouse is the fourth city with the most students after Paris, Lyon and Lille, estimates the survey. The city can count on a dense training offer, and also many preparatory classes and member schools of the CGE (Conference of Grandes Ecoles)”. The ranking takes into account many criteria.
A high density of training
First of all, the attractiveness of the Pink City which has been “increasing sharply” for ten years, with a percentage of doctoral students of 2.81% and 8.19% of students coming from abroad. Toulouse has a high “training density” of which establishments that train in commerce, sales, marketing, digital, IT and multimedia hold the top 3.
Public transport and “advantageous” housing, note the experts, but an honorable second year license (L2) pass rate (51.59%), but which is not the best compared to other major cities. such as Rennes (57.18%), Lyon (58.40%) or Bordeaux (57.04%). “Regarding transport, the city is also attractive with an annual student subscription at 108 euros, notes L’Etudiant. Many Toulouse students also praise the warm atmosphere and good humor of the southerners”.
Still, nearly 20% of students live below the poverty line, despite all the existing systems that cannot meet all needs, say student organizations.
