Lupine III and Cat’s Eye, two big emblematic Japanese licenses that we owe to Monkey Punch and Tsukasa Hojo, will soon find themselves face to face in a CG animated film!
The TMS Entertainment studio, historical producer of anime around these two licenses, has effectively announced the arrival of Lupine III vs. Cat’s Eye, which will be offered worldwide in 2023 exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. Seiyûs Kanichi Kurita and Keiko Toda will reprise their respective roles of Lupine III and Hitomi Kisugi. The production will be provided by the duo Kobun Shizuno / Hiroyuki Seshita, with the help of Keisuke Ide as assistant director. The screenplay will be provided by Shûji Kuzuhara, the artistic direction by Kitsunori Kataama, and the music by Yuji Ohno and Kazuo Otani who are respectively the historical composers of Lupine III and Cat’s Eye. Finally, mangaka Haruhisa Nakata and Junko Yamanaka will design the characters.
This new project celebrates both the 50th anniversary of the Lupine III anime and the 40th anniversary of the Cat’s Eye manga.
The film will be set in the original 1980s period of Cat’s Eye. The three Kisugi sisters seek, as always, to steal three new paintings that belonged to their father, but this time Lupine III covets the same paintings. But these paintings will also reveal a long-buried mystery.
